Common problems when adding card to WeChat
We have all been there, you finally get your bank card from a Chinese bank, and you go to add it to your WeChat wallet only to find it gets refused because your information does not match your WeChat account information.
Here are the most common issues and how to fix them.
As a foreigner your family name and first name does not make sense to Chinese bank people, they have entered your family name as your first name and vice versa, this will not match WeChat who strictly goes by your passport information, yes, the bank should to but they do not always, so you need to check this.
Your passport in WeChat is not your current passport, maybe you have changed passport since you opened your WeChat account, then simply upload your new passport in WeChat and wait for it to be confirmed then try adding your bank card again.
Your name has special characters in it, for example some European countries uses the special characters a with dots over it etc., and this causes havoc with some Chinese bank systems so they just ignore them, this is difficult to fix as each bank works differently and you just need to find a bank who can handle them or get your WeChat information to match what the bank can do.
